Some questions answered...

Yes, I have been lucky enough to have a good few friends and people interested enough to ask me the same recurring questions. There isn't as much given away on the main page, as, I suppose, there should be.
Questions that should be explained on the main page, but, it is not in my nature to divulge such important things.  Honestly, i didn't believe people to be that interested..But it seems now that some are.
So, i have attempted to answer some of the more frequent ones here, ...kinda like a mock interview...because, who knows, i may never get a chance to answer such questions in any real interviews...
So, for those more curious then others....

1.Why start back at all?

To say "Why not!!" is a cheap and tricky answer, but it is close to the truth. The truth is that i cannot help myself! I have thought to steer a path clear of music, but it is impossible! I've never actually ever left it in the first place! I have lots of songs waiting to come out and these were, simply, first. They have been snapping at the corners of my mind quite aggressively for a long time now, and the only way to put them to rest is to put them out(no matter what reception they get!).

2.Why now?

       It was time.

3.Why did you use all the old home recordings, and not record it all new, seeing as how you were back in a the studio to do drums and piano?

A lot of it had to do with a lack of time and money. But the main reason was that the home recordings, even though i had not recorded them very well, had the essence of the song, and an atmosphere that i wanted to retain.  I had put a lot of work into them then, and I felt they were more honest!
Yes, it could have been a much cleaner sounding record, but, besides the expense(which I couldn't afford!), I think the songs would have lost a hell of a lot in re-recording. I think that Daniel did a great job considering what i gave him!

4.   Why 'Maskedman'?

Be it a dumb name, or not, 'Maskedman' became a working title of the record long ago, as it was being recorded. It seemed to make some strange contradictory sense to me!
Throughout the time that i was working on it, i was a little obsessed with identity, both my own(having been in such a tight knit band for so long), and the identity of the songs and where they were coming from.
It has nothing to do with superheroes or villians, really.
But, there was a quote that i had learned in school that kept coming to mind the whole while, and that was- "..there will be time,  To prepare a face to meet the faces that you meet..", from 'The Lovesong of J Alfred Prufrock' by TS Eliot.
And I found myself to be a man of many of these 'faces', a man of masks! Layers of faces put on over years, not just to hid the cracks, but to cover up the joy I feel sometimes. Joy, i thought, it was not so cool to voice.
The record was there for me to learn to take them down. The name was a mask that I could hide behind. It gave me the sense of anonymity that I needed to let me say more of what I wanted to, more honestly...and that, was the contradiction of the whole trip. It fit!

So, I had to stick to it, even though i knew that it was going to be impossible to find by Googlin' it!

5. Where is the house pictured on the cover?

That house is gone! All that remains are the pillars! It was called Kenure House and it stood in Rush, Co Dublin. You can find more info on the pictures page.

6. Will you make more records?

Yes, this is a reconnection. There are a good few songs started already, for an album that will all be recorded in a STUDIO!! Whether it will be under the title of Maskedman, or not, we shall see......i think that i've gone as close as i will ever to the middle of the road here...and my mind is only beginning to understand some things..

Thanks for your interest!
